We make a sincere effort to accommodate parents who are interested in having their children placed at PLAY, while striving towards full enrolment at all times. In order to have your child added to our waiting list, parents and children must first have a tour of the centre to ensure the centre is a ‘good fit’ for the family. There is a $100, non-refundable fee to have your child placed on our waiting list. Virtual appointments are available for prospective parents during COVID.

SUBSIDY INFORMATION

The fees listed here represent the monthly cost of sending your child to PLAY before deducting any subsidy or the new affordability grant from the Government of Alberta. At PLAY, one of our core values is legacy. For this reason, we think that it's critical for parents to understand the full cost of a full-day early learning and child care program, rather than simply what you pay.

The prices reflected here include:

  • The attention and care of qualified early childhood educators

  • Daily play activities and experiences developed around children's interests, needs and abilities

  • Fully catered, hot meals (breakfast, lunch and one afternoon snack)

  • Wipes (you provide your own diapers)

  • Crib sheets

  • Access to an enclosed playground space and indoor gym, located centrally in Kensington

  • PLAY events (Christmas, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Graduation and more!)

PLAY is happy to be a participating centre supporting families through the Canada-Alberta Canada-Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement. For families, this represents big cost savings through the affordability grants (up to $635 off your tuition, depending on the age of your child) and even more if you qualify for subsidy.

If you have any questions regarding the subsidies available to you, you can learn more at this website: https://www.alberta.ca/federal-provincial-child-care-agreement.aspx or you can email and connect with our Executive Director who will be more than happy to assist you.

Waitlist Policy

  • We make a sincere effort to accommodate parents who are interested in having their children placed at PLAY as we strive towards full enrolment at all times.

  • PLAY is licensed for 64 spaces. When classrooms are full, a waitlist will be created.

  • Children will be accepted into the program on a first come first served basis when spots become available in the required age group. Priority is established by the date of the tour/application, however siblings of children currently enrolled in our program will be given priority status.

  • In order to have your child added to our waiting list, parent and child must first have a tour of the centre to ensure the centre is a ‘good fit’ for the family. There a $100.00, non-refundable fee to have your child placed on our waiting list.

  • Spaces become available when a family withdraws their child or when a child ages out of our program (typically happening in the summer months.) When a space becomes available, the program will move children internally first. This is to ensure that children do not get “stuck” in a room that they have aged out of.

  • Once internal movement is complete the family at the top of the waitlist, with a child of the required age, will be contacted and invited to accept a child care spot. Spaces may be offered up to three (3) months prior to the family’s requested start date. Families will be contacted via phone and email and will have two business days to respond to the offer. If the family accepts the offer, the registration process begins.

  • The family may choose to accept the space and pay for it in full, until they are prepared to start their child. Families may not sublet their child’s space if they are not prepared to begin care but wish to pay the full fee to hold the space.

  • If the family, for any reason, declines the spot that has been offered up to three (3) months of their preferred start date, we will offer the spot to the next family on the list. Any family that declines the spot will remain on the list in the same sequence unless they request to be removed from the waiting list.

  • If a family is offered a space that does not meet their criteria (e.g. number of days per week or the days per week you want) and they decline, they will still maintain their place space on the wait list and will be offered a space when another one becomes available.

  • If a family has been offered a space on or after their requested start month and they decline, they will lose their place on the wait list, will need to reapply, will be subject to the wait list priority groups and pay the wait list fee again.

  • A family may submit their waitlist application when they are pregnant. We do no accept application prior to becoming pregnant.

  • PLAY cannot guarantee the number of days or the days of the week that will be offered at a particular time. However, we will work closely with the family to achieve the desired outcomes. The peak transition time is over the summer. Wait times are unpredictable.

  • Parents are welcome to call the office for an update of their child’s status on the waiting list at any time.
